Safe enough to Search on Google? - Privacy Link
Article
Does anyone wonder about this? What sort of privacy data is collected by major search engines, especially Google? If you have a Google account and you have enabled Web History, you might want to know this...
It might not be that easy to get around this for Google as it seems. People started to complain, especially in America, since Google launched 'Street View' their fantastic photomapping tool. Essentially, what it means is that you can get caught on a public safety camera and published to a million online surfers - even if you don't want to. Now, is it fair to say that Google is pushing the boundaries of your privacy?
'Street View' will be launched shortly here. People in England are feeling strongly about privacy so (not for this reason) Google have considered making a few steps to avoid complaints and possible law suits...
Here is the solution Google’s come up with:
Google is changing its homepage by adding a link to their privacy overview and policies. They say "Google values our users' privacy first and foremost. Trust is the basis of everything we do, so we want you to be familiar and comfortable with the integrity and care we give your personal data. " Google added this link both to their homepage and to Google's results page to make it easier to find information about Google's privacy principles.
They will try to persuade surfers to understand how Google actually remembers what are you trying to search for, and giving you the best result. This is far more sophisticated that it seems, but in simple illustration, anyone can understand how their search query is processed by one of the major search engines on today’s world wide web.

is a good video explaining what sort of data is captured by Google when you are searching for your Spanish holiday...
As an active surfer and searcher on Google, I'm wondering though, is this enough of a step? Can't they do bit better? Let’s see, and hope so - privacy is very important whether it’s online or offline.
